The former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was taken into custody by Rangers, who were acting on the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) warrant, from the speculations of Islamabad High Court where the former premier had gone to seek bail in multiple cases registered against him.
Imran Khan’s arrest warrant was signed by NAB Chairman Lt-Gen Nazir Ahmed and issued on May 1. It said the PTI chief was accused of corruption and corrupt practices under Section 9(a) of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999.
In a statement, Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Islamabad Dr Akbar Nasir Khan said that Imran Khan was arrested in the Al-Qadir Trust case, adding that the situation is under control.
