Authorities close to the players revealed that following India’s resounding victory, an influx of Indian social media users directed critical comments at Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan’s Instagram accounts.

The comments reportedly targeted different aspects of the players’ lives, including their faith, Religion and ethnicity.

In response to the attack of online criticism, both players have chosen to limit the comments section on their Instagram posts.

Babar Azam, in particular, has closed the comments section on his last three Instagram posts and is expected to maintain these restrictions in the coming days. Even if he posts on his birthday today, sources suggest that comments will remain limited.
