Muhammad Yousuf Khan, known as Dilip Kumar was born in a Peshawari Pashtun family of 12 children in Pakistan. 

Legendary Bollywood thespian Dilip Kumar has passed away in Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital at the age of 98. He is survived by his wife, Saira Banu.

The announcement of his death was made through his official Twitter account.  “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago,” says the tweet.

Earlier, Dilip Kumar was hospitalized on June 6 after experiencing breathlessness. He was diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion — a build-up of excess fluid between the layers of the pleura outside the lungs and underwent a successful pleural aspiration procedure. He was discharged after five days.

Dr Jalil Parkar, the pulmonologist who was treating Dilip Kumar at Mumbai’s PD Hinduja Hospital confirmed the news. Known as the ‘Tragedy King’ of Bollywood, the legendary star breathed his last at 7:30 AM on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.
