Marvel Cinematic Universe fans were in for a shock when news broke out that Spider-Man is leaving Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The superhero is set to leave the franchise after Disney and Sony’s deal reached an impasse. While Disney hasn’t commented on the development, Sony broke their silence over the matter and reacted to Disney’s decision of disassociating Marvel President Kevin Feige with the Spider-Man franchise.

In a statement issued to international publications the production house expressed they were “disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision” of refusing Marvel Studios head to continue as the producer for the future projects. While the studio expressed their reaction over Disney’s decision, they were all praise for Feige and Amy Pascal for their work on Spider-Man: Far From Home.

“Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s relationship in the franchise. We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live-action Spider-Man film,” Sony’s statement read.

“We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him including all their newly added Marvel properties do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own. Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue,” the statement added.

With this development, Tom Holland will no longer be seen in the MCU as Spider-Man. The future Avengers movies will no longer feature Peter Parker and crossovers with other MCU characters.
