The Pakistani drama industry has developed tremendously over the past two decades, excelling in all facets with high quality content, well-written stories and excellent acting skills. The industry is rapidly thriving and gaining popularity as it represents the very essence of society. Because of their down-to-earth approach, natural acting, and flawless directing skills, we’re more likely to get in touch with them. Pakistani dramas have become an obsession not only for women but also for men across the country. Many Pakistani dramas have educated the masses on specific issues. Topics we generally don’t talk about.

There have been a number of amazing drama series that got us addicted to our TV screens and hit the right chords. There are also many exaggerated dramas that did not live up to the audience’s expectations and ultimately failed. Rather, they experience something relevant to society and expand their perception in order to convey harsh realities, it is the entertainment industry’s obligation to use their platform to educate our society.

Here are some Pakistani dramas that were disappointing in terms of storyline, screenplay, dragged and acting skills!

1. Nand

A love triangle, at least a bad in-law and a couple of slaps in the face that seems to be the standard recipe for our local TV dramas lately. Add a knife to the stage and the drama can begin. As the title suggests, the drama revolves around a Nand named Gohar (sister, played by Faiza Hasan) who is the oldest of three siblings and does her best to get her siblings (Shahroz Sabzwari and Ayaz Samoo) to divorce their wives. Now the public is pissed off to watch such dramas they want something unique and interesting.

2. Mujhy Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai

Mujhe Khuda pe Yaqeen Hai’ has bid a bye to the channel and the audience which was already found fed up from the poor acting and ambiguous story of the drama. First of all, the story is slow-paced. It’s true that the purpose of the pace is to get the point across properly but keeping the audience’s interest is important too. Secondly, the way of transitioning from present scenes to past scenes and vice versa confuses the audience. Public kept getting confused at time, ‘Is this the past or the present?’, They kept thinking. Lastly, that some outcomes were a little unrealistic. Some felt too convenient. So one of the reason public not liked it

3. Khuwaab Nagar Ki Shehzadi

In the starting episodes, “Khuwaab Nagar Ki Shehzadi” introduces Meera (Mashal Khan) and Saim (Mekaal Zulfiqar), a loving couple from the upper middle class who live with Saim’s mother and son Hassan. When Sehar (Anmol Baloch) lived with them under strange circumstances. Meera’s housekeeper, Hamim, gets into a fix after her husband Jamil takes out a loan from corrupt people. These people demand the loan from their eldest daughter in their marriage; However, she runs away and marries a man of her choice and leaves the group after Sehar.Shamim leaves Sehar under Meera’s protection, against the wishes of Saim and her mother-in-law and her home. You are constantly under stress because of this inconvenience.

Essentially, what it boils down to, is one of two options. First, will Sehar fall prey to Saim’s advances? She is a young girl who may be impressionable and that would paint Saim in a bad light. The second option comes from the brief ARY synopsis, which says it’s “the tale of an ambitious girl who could go to any lengths to achieve everything she has thought of.” This opens the doors to Sehar actively pursuing Saim and working to trap him in order to gain access into his household as his partner, achieving her dreams – by railroading Meera, the naïve woman who helped her. This second option seems more likely than anything else and it would take the story down an irritating road

4. Meherposh

If truth be told, Meherposh is one drama that started well. We loved the performance of Mehru’s parents, essayed by the veterans Sania Saeed and Rehan Sheikh. Giving us a break from the portrayal of conservative desi parents in dramas, their sweet chemistry makes them one cute pair and we love to watch their adorable scenes together. but as the episode passes they failed to impressed the viewers.

The reason behind this is that the lack of chemistry between Ayeza Khan and Danish is extremely disappointing. That was one of the promotional aspects of the drama and we hardly saw any connection between them. In most of the scenes, Danish looks younger than Ayeza. He looks even more youthful than usual, which may be good for his character, but he seems a little different from Ayeza. The story that started well is then becoming a cliché and a drag. It is among the best dramas of the season but in the end table turned around and they failed.

5. Qayamat

Amid stiff competition, Qayamat started on a phenomenal note with a solid premise backed by strong lyrics and performances. But at some point after episode 15 it all fell apart. The way the episodes were mixed up, it seemed more likely that several writers were appointed halfway there to experiment and drag the story until it lost its purpose. writer dragged the script so much. There were numerous unnecessary scenes which makes the drama failed to impress the audience

It’s high time that the producers and most importantly the channel to get rid of the unnecessary melodrama in order to fetch top trending and TRP’s. I really wish Drama Industry would have chopped the excessive episodes to make the drama more tolerable.
